The
MC5 were before my time, i was born in 78'. How many times in my life
have i heard someone yell at a show "kick out the jams?" I finally
discovered MC5 after numberous referrances of the bands im
into(Fugazi,The Hives, Jack White,etc.) I went to Desirable Disc in
Dearborn and picked up The Big Bang. I was instantly hooked. MC5 were
ahead of the times then as they are now. Heroes to Rock n' Roll in
every aspect. They were pioneers in their music, politics, freedom,
spirit, charisma, energy, creativity. I simply can not translate into
words what an effect they have had on myself as a person and a

I
use to come and see you at the Grande when I was 13. I have been
playing music ever since I was about 10. My first bass was a mosrite
(like sonic). I would hitch hike to A2 and hang at the headquarters. I
recently purchased your DVD of DKT and enjoyed it much. I lived in
Monroe, Mi and also saw you guys at the "club" in the old days. I think
we played base ball in the parking lot at the "club". Jim, one of the
owners of the "club" was my boss and I worked at his music store moving
piano's etc. I am now a psychologist and I work in Detroit at the
corner of Bagley and Grand River (Michigan building). About once a
month I go down and sit in the parkng lot at the Grande and eat my
lunch. The music, the Grande, the anti- war movement, the sixties and
all of the noble ideals will probably not come again in my life time. I
find it unfortunate that so many of our brothers are now Republicans.
